I want more 3–6 months 20+ The Optimist Anxious attachment Woman & Woman

It has been four weeks since we finally called it quits after about four months of seeing each other. I am still just so angry because she kept telling me she was not ready for a relationship and that she just needed space to figure out what she wanted. I actually believed her. I thought if I stayed patient and just kept being there, she would eventually see that we were working. Last night I saw she posted a photo of her and someone new at a pub. It really stung. It is not even about the other person. It is just the fact that she told me she was not capable of being with anyone right now, yet here we are a month later and she is doing exactly what she said she could not do. I feel like such a mug for waiting around for her to be ready. I keep checking my phone to see if she has sent anything but obviously she has not. I should just block her number and get on with my life tbh. I keep trying to distract myself but I just keep thinking about the weekend we spent at her place watching films. It was so normal. Anyway, sorry for the essay, I just needed to vent this because I am really struggling to let it go.

Be honest. Be kind. No real names.

read this and honestly just teared up. i waited six months for a guy to tell me he was not ready just for him to post his new gf a week later. it hurts so much more than people realise.

did you see the pub photo? was it that local one near the high street or somewhere new you guys never went to together?

Checking the phone for a sign can keep you tied to an answer she has already given. Her moving on does not mean the four months meant nothing, but it does mean waiting is unlikely to change the relationship available.

It sounds as though this situation has worn you down. That does not make you foolish or weak, but it may help to focus on the choices available to you now and the boundary you can realistically keep.

this is literally my life right now. waited for her to be ready and just watched her move on like i never even existed. it sucks so much.

Knowing who the person in the photo is would probably add detail, not change the central fact. She said she was not ready for this relationship and is now choosing something else, however painful that feels.

mate, you need to delete that number today. literally just delete the contact and archive the chat so you stop checking for updates. it is the only way to break the habit.

Seeing the photo so soon after she said she needed space would hurt, even if it does not tell you everything about the new connection. Give yourself time to absorb the mismatch between what you heard and what happened.

Knowing who appeared in the photo would probably create more material to analyse without changing the ending. Protecting yourself from updates for a while may be kinder than investigating the new person.

she was just never that into you, stop torturing yourself.

Her dating somebody else now does not necessarily mean she lied to you then. She may have meant she was not ready for the relationship the two of you were building, or she may genuinely feel differently a month later. Either way, waiting for a message from her will not give you a kinder version of that answer.

I recognise the phone checking after seeing that somebody has moved on. What helped me was removing the easy ways to check for a while, so every difficult moment did not turn into another look.

Blocking her may help if seeing updates keeps reopening this, but it is worth choosing it as protection rather than punishment. Her new relationship does not tell you that your four months meant nothing.

The films and weekends were real parts of what you shared, so you do not need to erase them to move forward. Muting her updates may give you space while the shock of seeing the new photo settles.

nosyneighbour88 (https://thegreyzones.com/stories/users/nosyneighbour88)18 Sep 2026, 08:01

Recognising the person in the photo might add context, but it would not change the central fact that she has moved in a different direction. Searching for more detail may only give your attention another question to chase.

Watching her social media is keeping the new information constantly available, but it does not make you foolish. Muting or blocking may give you space to recover without turning the choice into a punishment.

Deleting the number may help if repeated checking is keeping the breakup open, but it is not the only valid boundary. Muting her posts and choosing not to contact her can create the same distance without turning one action into a test of willpower.

london_lad_88 (https://thegreyzones.com/stories/users/london_lad_88)21 Sep 2026, 13:01

Removing easy access to her updates may help if checking keeps reopening the breakup. I would also plan something for the times you usually waited for her messages, rather than relying only on willpower.

truthbomb_uk (https://thegreyzones.com/stories/users/truthbomb_uk)24 Sep 2026, 20:01

She may have meant that she was not ready for this relationship, or her feelings may have changed after it ended. That does not make the photo easy to see, but a new date does not prove the four previous months were a deliberate lie.

realist_london (https://thegreyzones.com/stories/users/realist_london)24 Sep 2026, 20:01

Agreed that moving on is not a crime and does not automatically make her dishonest. The painful part is that “not ready for a relationship” sounded general to the poster, while the outcome now feels very personal.
