I want more Under 3 months 40+ The Optimist Secure attachment

So I finally ended things with the person I have been seeing for the last ten weeks. Honestly it has been a month since I last heard from him and I am still checking my phone like an idiot. We spent every weekend together for ages. He would come over to my place and stay until sunday evening. We ate dinner, watched films, and talked about everything under the sun. It really felt like we were getting somewhere until I asked what we were doing. He just stared at me and said he was not ready for anything serious right now. So I told him if he was not ready then I was done. I thought I would feel relieved but I just feel sad. Anyway it has been four weeks of total silence from his end. I keep thinking about how he used to make me coffee in the morning and how we laughed at the same stupid shows. I know I did the right thing by walking away because I want more than just weekends, but it is hard when you miss the person. Maybe I am just lonely. Sorry for the essay, I just needed to write it down so I could stop staring at the wall.

honestly you deserve way more than just being a sunday morning coffee stop for someone who cannot even commit.

im sorry, that sounds rubbish. hope you feel a bit better soon.

It sounds as though this situation has worn you down. That does not make you foolish or weak, but it may help to focus on the choices available to you now and the boundary you can realistically keep.

tbh you should delete the chat history this week. looking at old texts just keeps you stuck in a loop of what was.

im sorry, that sounds rubbish. it is totally normal to feel like this for a bit.

to be fair, you are being really hard on him. he told you he wasnt ready, he was honest, and then you just cut him off. people are allowed to be unsure about commitment.

hardtruthguy (https://thegreyzones.com/stories/users/hardtruthguy)27 Aug 2026, 18:25

honestly, stop whining. he was clear from the start and you stayed for ten weeks knowing he wasnt interested in anything serious. you played yourself, mate.

I can understand why the other person may feel hurt by the uncertainty. That does not make either of you a bad person, but continuing without a clear and honest conversation is likely to cause more pain.

honestly mate you did the right thing. its so hard when they just go quiet but honestly its better than waiting for a text that never comes. take care of yourself, yeah.

so wait, did he actually leave his stuff at your place or did you make him take everything when you ended it?

teaandtoast88 (https://thegreyzones.com/stories/users/teaandtoast88)28 Aug 2026, 20:45

i feel for you seriously. dont beat yourself up about checking the phone, it is just a habit now. it takes way longer than a month to stop missing the little bits like the coffee and that. just give yourself some time, yeah?

bitsandbobs (https://thegreyzones.com/stories/users/bitsandbobs)2 Sep 2026, 01:12

you need to delete his number this week, mate. as long as you have the chat saved you will keep looking at it. just get rid of it and stop the temptation.

you deserve better than someone who treats you like a part time project.

truthbomb88 (https://thegreyzones.com/stories/users/truthbomb88)8 Sep 2026, 10:36

Ten weeks is not very long, so I can understand why the question may have felt sudden. Even so, asking what somebody wants is not the same as demanding a commitment. The useful question is whether you both meant the same thing by letting it grow.
